I am not gonna lie. Raw is hit or miss more so than vegan restaurants in general. Let me tell you Rawbert and crew get it. So far the Corn Chowder pictured below is one of my top soups of the trip. I also urge you to check the website for the philosophy and roots behind the restaurant. Though I am not a raw foodist, I have a deep appreciation for the raw approach and specifically Rawbert’s site is a great example why. Trust your body and the pure foods from the earth. You won’t be disappointed.

While we were in Beverly we didn’t have a proper opportunity to sit with Rawbert but Kristin was able to do a quick email interview:

Can you tell us how Organic Garden got started/how long it’s been around?
We celebrate our 12th anniversary on this winter solstice[2011]. I jumped into this business with a goal of nothing short of world peace by creating peace within the individual body as a starting point with pure vibrant food. I was shocked by the outrageous skyrocketing rates cancer and chronic degenerate diseases and inspired to show the way to something better.

What inspired you to go vegan/raw?
My sister-in-law struggled with cancer and I jumped head first into the study of holistic medicine and sustainably lifestyle with a passion and mission

What’s your #1, hands down, favorite item on the menu (that you’d suggest someone gets when they dine over)
Well everyone loves the Harvest bowl and during the fall and winter I can eat that a few times a week. The Tiramisu pulls me in regularly as well, and the kale chips are a go to item for sure

Any future plans for OG?
I’m always considering Cambridge and Somerville as a second location before world dominance
Anything else you’d like to add…
I believe everything is all working according to higher order and there is nothing to fear. Every challenge is an opportunity for growth in some way. And whether raw, vegan or local dominates or not its all good. We’ll get there wherever there is; evolution and law of attraction demand it

I think a location in Cambridge or Somerville would be a lovely idea. Good Luck Rawbert!

The Food!

I had the Lunch Special Soup and Salad Combo while Kristin went for one of the Bowls.

Corn Chowder This was the soup of the day at the time of our visit.
