Join Us in June! Let’s Go on a Vegan Foodie Tour of Thailand Together!

| On 16, Jun 2021

Let’s try this again, shall we?! 😅 I’ve teamed up with Giselle from Mindful Wanderlust—for a trip of a lifetime through Thailand—and we’re taking YOU with us!

Vegan Thailand Tour: June 11 – 21, 2022

Whether you’re going it solo or traveling with friends or your love, you can be sure that everything on the tour was created with responsibility, comfort, and fun in mind. We’ve got you!

NOTE: All travelers must show proof of having been fully vaccinated against COVID-19

Tour Host & Coordinator: Giselle Correia

Meet your local host and tour coordinator, Giselle Correia of Mindful Wanderlust: Hi! I’m Giselle, and I’m thrilled to be hosting this vegan tour of Thailand with Kristin in June! My first journey to Thailand was in 2012 but it would be far from my last. It didn’t take me very long to fall in love with the people, the food, the culture, and the slow laid back way of life (excluding Bangkok) :) There is a lot to love about Thailand and I’ve been privileged enough to explore so much of it over the years. And now I want to share it with you! Three years ago, my husband and I had the incredible opportunity to build a holiday home in Northern Thailand. We now split our time between Canada and Thailand each year and travel from Southeast Asia to a new destination when the time allows- or we head back to Egypt, another country that holds a special place in our hearts.

Tour Host & Foodie: Kristin Lajeunesse

Meet your international tour host, Kristin Lajeunesse of Will Travel for Vegan Food: Hi There! Back in 2011 I had thought it’d be a good idea to quit my 9-5 desk job, move into a renovated Chevy van, and hit the road in an effort to eat at every single vegan restaurant in the country. After 2 years, 48 states, 547 restaurants, and 1 book deal later I knew I had discovered a new lifestyle that I couldn’t shake: minimalism + nomad life. As soon as the road trip ended I started my own work-from-anywhere business, continued to slow travel around the U.S., went on a 27-city book tour, and then set out on an 8-month-long around the world trip (which included 6 weeks in Thailand), partially sponsored by! I’ve since been traveling full-time for 8 years now and look forward to returning to Thailand to show you some of my favorite things! :)

Selected as Sponsored Travelers for VeganTravel‘s 2016 Global Trek!

Giselle and I met while both on global treks sponsored by in 2016. At the time two couples (Shae & Marissa and Giselle & Cody) and one solo traveler (hi, that’s me) were among those selected to represent—exploring dozens of countries to discover delicious vegan eats, animal rights efforts, and eco-conscious places to stay and visit! Giselle and I got to spend time together in Germany and Czech Republic and look forward to joining forces to bring you a most excellent vegan foodie tour of a lifetime in Thailand!

With our collective decades’ worth of vegan- and culturally-immersive travel experience we’re SO excited to take you on our next adventure, through Thailand! Ready to learn more? Keep reading…

Detailed daily breakdown:

ARRIVE (JUNE 11) – Check-In & Orientation

Rest up my friends! You may have spent some quality time on a few flights at this point so feel free to unpack and unwind before we meet up in the hotel lobby at 6:30 p.m. for orientation.

DAY 1 (JUNE 12) – Introduction to Bangkok + Damnoen Saduak Floating Market

Welcome to Bangkok, AKA the ‘Land of Smiles.’ This bustling metropolis is teeming with life, offering a peek into its vibrant street culture tucked down small sois, and busy roads.

Early on this morning we are off with our Thai tour guide to see the colorful Damnoen Saduak Floating Market. On this day we will catch a glimpse into an ancient way of life and hop onto a longtail boat, slowly skimming by narrow canals, tall wooden houses on stilts, and busy stalls filled with locals selling their wares.

Our next stop will be Talad Rom Hoop, a local market packed with vendors selling fresh fruit, veggies, local snacks, clothing, and more.

You’ll get to see what makes this market so cool: a train track that runs directly through the market and the real life train that comes through eight times a day! A siren will go off and shoppers hop off the tracks while vendors quickly pack their goods and retract their awnings to co-exist with the train.

In the evening we will enjoy a wonderful vegan dinner at one of Giselle’s favorite vegan restaurants!

DAY 2 (JUNE 13) – Touring The Grand Palace in Bangkok

In the morning we’ll hop on the BTS (local skytrain) with our Thai tour guide and journey to the Saphan Taksin Pier on the Chao Phraya River, and then onto some of the most iconic and well-known spots in the city- including the city’s most sacred Buddhist site, the Grand Palace (via ferry). We’ll also visit to the Reclining Buddha and more on this day-long walking tour. At night, you’re free to explore the energy and nightlife of the city!

DAY 3 (JUNE 14) – Free Day to Explore Bangkok

After breakfast, the city is yours to explore. We’ll give you some suggestions but ultimately you get to choose how you want to spend the day. Whether it’s visiting bustling Chinatown, hopping on a water taxi to see markets outside the city, biking through the jungle (in the city!), or simply napping the day away, it’s completely up to you!

Later on we’ll meet up for a delicious vegan dinner together in town.

DAY 4 (JUNE 15) – Fly to Koh Samui + Visit Wat Plai Laem

Good morning! Today we fly inside the country, from Bangkok to the tropical island of Koh Samui! After checking-in to our hotel we’ll enjoy lunch together and then make our way to Wat Plai Laem—a colourful Thai Buddhist compound where an 18-armed Statue Guanyin, the goddess of compassion, can be found. After the temple walk we will make our way back to the hotel for a ‘free’ late afternoon/evening.

Optional: Take a walk through the busy Bophut night market.

DAY 5 (JUNE 16) – Snorkeling & Kayaking at Ang Thong National Marine Park

Ang Thong National Marine Park is a natural archipelago of 42 islands in the Gulf of Thailand. It offers lush jungle, white-sandy beaches, limestone cliffs, and waterfalls. Today we go on a snorkeling and kayaking adventure surrounded by this natural phenomenon. After our day trip we head back to our hotel, and your evening is free.

DAY 6 (JUNE 17) – Free Day in Koh Samui

Today is a well deserved day of rest! Enjoy breakfast at your own leisure, hit the beach, go shopping, sleep all day, you choose! Later we’ll all meet for a relaxing group dinner.

DAY 7 (JUNE 18) – Fly to Chiang Mai + Bicycle Temple Tour

Today after breakfast we’ll hop a flight to Chiang Mai! Known as the Lanna Kingdom or the Rose of the North; Chiang Mai is full of charm, colorful hill tribe culture, misty mountains, ornate Buddhist temples, and innumerable vegan restaurants. After checking into the hotel and a quick lunch (if you choose), the group will then venture out on a temple tour via bicycle! And later we’ll meet at the hotel restaurant for dinner.

DAY 8 (JUNE 19) – Doi Inthanon, Waterfalls, Coffee Making, + Traditional Thai Massage

About an hour away from old town Chiang Mai is Doi Inthanon, the highest peak in the country! Also known as “The Roof of Thailand” this national park covers an area of nearly 300 miles and features lush jungle, cloud forests, and spectacular views. Today’s adventure includes Doi Inthanon, a stop at an incredible waterfall,  lessons in coffee making, and lunch.

Once you’re back in town it’s time for a traditional Thai Massage!

DAY 9 (JUNE 20) – Free Day in Chiang Mai + Vegan Thai Cooking Class

Discover the rose on your own! Seek out the best hill-tribe coffee, taste test over 40 vegan ice-cream flavors, or sit by the pool with a cold drink. The day is yours to explore! Later in the afternoon it’ll be time for our vegan cooking class– making plant-based Thai dishes for dinner.

Optional: Joining us for an evening stroll through the Night Bazaar to check out handmade crafts and more available at this popular nightly market.

DAY 10 (JUNE 21) – Warorot Market + Time to Say Goodbye

After breakfast we will walk over to one of the city’s most popular markets — Warorot beside the Ping River. With a blend of Thai and Chinese culture, this massive area is packed with vendors selling local crafts, flowers, produce, and more. We’ll navigate the market and then grab lunch before we say our goodbyes and close out the Vegan Thailand Tour!
