B’Gabs Goodies – Rawsome Representation in Chicago’s South-side
B’Gabs Goodies – 99.9% vegan (some bee-gan products available)
6100 S Blackstone Ave.
Chicago, IL 60637
B’Gabs Goodies wasn’t actually on our original list of restaurants when we first arrived in the Chicago area. The way we go about finding a place is to check VegDining and Happy Cow, and then do our own Google search, and then ask all of our wonderful followers (hey, that’s you!). :) For some reason B’Gabs hadn’t made an appearance until a later search was done. Don’t know what happened there but I am so glad we ended up finding this place.
A bit off the beaten path, B’Gabs Goodies specializes in raw, soy-free meals as well as prepackaged spices, herbs, juices, and teas. B’Gabs is run by a delightful couple, Gabrielle and Ron. We chatted with Gabrielle for a bit and it was clear that her knowledge and passion for whole, healthy foods is nothing short of profound. It looked as though other members of her family were working at the restaurant as well. I love that! Family stuff. Makes me feel all warm and fuzzy.
There is an entire room at B’Gabs dedicated to their prepackaged herbs, spices, and teas.
I love that Gabrielle puts little hearts on the to-go boxes. Oh, and that she labels the with what’s inside. Helpful indeed!
Ethan had the Nutloaf which came with sides of kale and mashed sweet potato. He loved it!
I had the Pad Thai and holy crap, B’Gabs homemade Thai sauce is UN-friggin-BELIEVABLE. The Pad Thai was made up of fresh greens, lots of kale (love!), onions, and carrots that were kind of spiral-cut, acting as the ‘noodles’ of the dish. It truly was one of the most creative ways I’ve seen a raw restaurant take a traditional meal and make it fresh, whole, and healthy. This has become one of my most memorable meals on the trip so far.
Here we are with the owners of B’Gabs, Ron and Gabrielle. Thanks for a great meal and great conversation, friends!

Thank you Gabrielle, James, Marlie, Keith(?) and Hudson! You all just blessed my socks off the other evening! I had such a good time; you are all so sweet and kind. And, Marlie is such a good guac maker! Wow! That was really good especially with Foods Alive crackers! Of course, it is good all by itself!
Thanks so much for your time and considering Foods Alive products for your cafe and store! I want to be able to send you a copy of the letter that the founder of the business wrote about himself and the business! It is a great letter telling the whole story of Foods Alive and its inception! I think you will be impressed!
Again, I had such a good time. BTW, thank James for staying on the line till I got to I-55! He was a God-send! Thanks James!
I will give you a call soon or you can call me. I just don’t want to be a pest! But I will not forget about you or let you forget about us either!!!!!
Blessings,
Connie at Foods Alive
