The Lisa Oz Show – First National TV Appearance
Kristin | On 11, Apr 2014
On the morning of Wednesday, May 1st, 2013 I awoke with incredible energy accompanied by a distinct pang of excitement, nervously floating throughout my every fiber. The day had come. It was time to prepare for my first nationally televised appearance in the history of my 30 years of life.
The truth is—thanks to my anxiety about the whole thing—I had begun preparing months in advance. I was determined to be a glowing example of veganism and as such I partook in a couple of pre-taping juice cleanses, and daily body brushings, followed by a slathering of unrefined coconut oil. Upon the recommendation of some friends I also switched from using traditional facial cleansers to an oatmeal face wash. I began using pure rosehip oil as my facial moisturizer and applied weekly avocado masks; to ready myself for lights, camera, action!
With the incredible support of experienced friends I was also advised on what to wear, how to apply my makeup, and how to use a round brush to blowout my hair. I even worked with a TV coach who helped me understand what to expect on the day-of taping, and had me practice answering the questions I would be asked this day, too. It was all quite something! :)
The result? Well… the segment aired in April 2014 and the network sent me the clip just recently; check it out!!
Thank you SO much to Emily J. Hara (juice cleanse connection, hair/makeup connection, rad blazer provider, and full ensemble assistance), Gina Hieber (coaching connection and incredible all around resource), Suzanne Whang (TV coaching), Chris Zahka (moral support), Nicole Pittman (ensemble assistance), Jennifer Nam (makeup training), Cri de Coeur (sweet shoe lenders), and Luli Tonix (juice cleanse provider) for your support and guidance throughout the months leading up to the taping. Oh my goodness, I couldn’t have done it without you guys!!! <3

This is so inspiring. I’m going to Europe and I want to do the same sort of thing. Not as extensive though but I’m going backpacking and I’m going to try and review one vegan restaurant per city I travel to. Your blog has been a big help for me putting together how to do this.
